About the Teacher...

Ronald Paul Seymour

I was born in Syracuse, NY and began drawing at age 3. My uncle sent me to art school at Roberson Art Center in Binghamton, NY at 7 years old, where I was lucky enough to get into the adult drawing class.

After graduation from high school, I received the Slade Palmer Art Scholarship Award, which financed my enrollment in the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where I studied fashion illustration and design.

After doing architectural renderings, illustrations for books and poems, I learned graphic design and lettering as a commercial artist for Fasco industries. There, I created logos, or “product identification design” for major cosmetic firms such as Faberge, and clothing manufacturers such as Wrangler, Jordache, and Sportswear of California. I also worked on watercolor illustrations for Camel Cigarette’s “The Aviator” series.

I learned oil painting from a very fine illustrator in Waverly, NY by the name of Gary Watson. IBM purchased my first oil painting of fighter jets and attack helicopters. I was later commissioned by them to create color drawings for the Nave League Show “Naecon 90.” I also created several color drawings for the Budweiser Summer Soundstage at Tag’s Tavern On The Green in Big Flats, NY.

Recently, my drawings have been exhibited in the West End Gallery in Corning, NY, and the wonderful Anthony Brunelli Gallery on State Street in Binghamton, NY.

I am currently working on several fantasy drawings, as well as a large mural and some fine are drawings for private collectors.
